A=A=A=A and Scientology:
How Scientology cannot differentiate between identities, similarities and differences

By Ruth Lorenzen, Sept 2008

Scientology touts its ability and intelligence to differentiate better than others, and claims that non-Scientologists cannot differentiate between identities and similarities. Scientology uses the symbology "A=A=A=A=A" as if it were an equation where everything is the same as everything else.

However Scientology has been guilty of the most extreme "identification" (inability to separate similar incidents) of any organization that I've come across in my four-decade-plus lifetime.

From Scientology's own online glossary:

A=A=A=A: anything equals anything equals anything. This is the way the reactive mind thinks, irrationally identifying thoughts, people, objects, experiences, statements, etc., with one another where little or no similarity actually exists. Everything is everything else. Mr. X looks at a horse knows it’s a house knows it’s a schoolteacher. So when he sees a horse he is respectful.

When I was a member of the cult called "Church of Scientology", I witnessed numerous incidents where A=A=A=A was enforced on its membership. For example, one person was considered "bad" (for whatever reason) and was verbally labeled as such by the organization's Ethics Officer (or MAA, Master at Arms). The word would get out and there would be a gossip grapevine where this person's reputation would get trashed.

If it was discovered that someone (Person B) was communicating with the "bad" person (Person A), they'd be told they needed to stop communicating with them "or else". The "or else" was that the person threatening this (Person C) would discontinue communication with Person B unless they immediately discontinued communications with Person A. This chain of discontinuing associations with someone can continue ad infinitum; there never seemed to be a stop to the chain of enforcement of A=A=A=A.

If your friend knew someone who knew someone who knew someone who knew someone (you get the idea) who was considered "bad", then you would have to disconnect from your friend who would have to disconnect from their friend, who would have to disconnect from their friend, etc.

There are two purposes of this:

1) to hurt the "bad" person as much as possible, and

2) to keep you from hearing "bad things" from the "bad person" (such as how Church of Scientology is a cult, yada yada yada).

Recently, I've been reading articles where there is a group called Anonymous protesting against Scientology. Scientology has the occasional restraining order from some old critic. Now, Scientology is trying to enforce old restraining orders against anyone who ever once met or talked to the old critic, on the grounds of A=A=A=A=A.

In particular, recently (Sept 2008) police in Riverside County California stopped a legal protest of Scientology and pulled out an old 2002 injunction against a man who lives outside of California. Specifically it said "Defendant, his agents, employees, representatives and persons acting in concert or conspiracy with him who have actual notice of the Permanent Injunction, are hereby and forever restrained and enjoined from...".

Scientology is claiming that anyone who protests Scientology is somehow "an agent, employee or representative or person acting in concert or conspiracy with him". This, of course, is ludicrous.

Doing similar actions (such as protesting Scientology) doesn't make anyone connected to anyone else.

And Scientology prides itself on knowing the meaning of English words to a better extent than anyone else in the USA. So, let's take those words: "Agents" (acting on their behalf), "Employees" (being paid by defendant) & "Representatives" (exposing views on his behalf).

I think there are thousands of people who feel the same way as that ole defendant with the restraining order, and who like to critique or protest Scientology. That doesn't make them so associated with the defendant that the restraining order applies to them. If that argument holds water, then any friend or family member of a person just convicted of a crime is also their accomplice?

The cult called "Church of Scientology" doesn't care about "humanity" or "rights" or "justice". They don't want anyone protesting them, so they play this A=A=A=A=A game to the hilt to suit their desires. Scientology thinks that everyone not-a-Scientologist (also called a "wog" in Scientology parlance) is stupid.

What a wake up call they'll get when they discover that there are many bright non-Scientologists who see right through their smoke and mirrors. We see it all. We see this trick for exactly what it is.

Hubbard = cult = Scientology = Dianetics = fraud = preying on people = taking people's money for little to nothing in return = breaking up families = injustices = blackmail and extortion

Bye bye, Scientology. You have made too many enemies, so your days are numbered. I won't shed a tear when you disappear. In fact, I'll do a little Happy Dance in downtown Clearwater.
